Presidency, Power Plays & Pure Grit – Inside the World of G20.

Let me just start by saying this Viola Davis finished work in G20. If you ever doubted that this woman can carry a full-blown action-political thriller on her back, this movie will humble you.

What’s the movie about?

G20 is all about chaos at a world leaders’ summit. Terrorists invade the meeting and hold presidents hostage. But guess who they messed with? President Taylor Sutton of the United States  played by Viola Davis. And let me just say, they picked the wrong person to play with.

This movie had me shouting “Omo” like five different times. It's fast-paced, it's intense, and you’ll be hooked from the start. The action scenes weren’t forced, and everything just blended well strategy, gunfire, mind games, everything.

Now let’s get into the juicy part…

Character Analysis – The Ones That Made This Movie Tick

President Taylor Sutton (Viola Davis): This woman no dey play. I love how they made her character smart, calm under pressure, and still very human. She wasn’t trying to be a superhero, she was just a strong, focused leader that refused to be intimidated. Viola brought strength, emotion, and brains into this role. You could feel her fear, but you could also feel her fire. She was leading and fighting, both mentally and physically, and I just kept thinking: This is how you write a female lead

The Villains (Led by Omar):
These guys were not your regular “talk-too-much” terrorists. They were cold, calculated, and scary. Their leader, Omar, was giving mastermind energy  calm but dangerous. He wasn’t chaotic for nothing; he knew what he was doing. That made the stakes feel real.

The Other World Leaders: Honestly? Most of them were just there looking confused, some even annoying. But I get it. When real danger hits, not everybody go fit ginger. It made Taylor stand out even more.

Taylor’s Security Team:
They didn’t have too many standout moments, but the few scenes they had? Solid. Especially that moment when one of them had to choose between following orders or protecting their president. I won’t spoil it, but e choke.

Small Critique:

If I must talk true, one tiny thing I noticed some parts felt a bit too fast. Like, I wish they gave us just a little more background on the villains or even Taylor’s life before all this. It would’ve added more emotional weight. But abeg, that one na small matter.

My Final Take:

G20 gave what it was supposed to give. Viola Davis carried it like the queen that she is. If you love movies that keep your heart racing but still give room for smart storytelling, you’ll enjoy this one. I didn’t even check my phone once while watching and that says a lot.

Rating: Solid 8.5/10. Viola ate, no crumbs left.
